peaceful place to go in the "whop-whops"

Sixtus Lodge

Sixtus Lodge was established in 1977 on 6.5 hectares of magical landscape and bush out in the "whop-whops".
It is the ideal place to get away for a weekend or over school holidays accommodating families to groups and even small conferences, sleeping up to 50 people. Available facilities and activities.
  • The Lodge is widely used by school groups on outdoor education camps.
  • The Margo Arboretum is a fascinating nature trail, but is only open to those using the Lodge. From the road you will see the sign that marks the Arboretum.
  • The Lodge is surrounded by other bush walks.
  • Advance bookings are essential and is only suitable for group accommodation, school camps and conferences.

Location
A few kilo metres north of Apiti, turn right onto  Table Flat Road. The journey will begin on tarseal and finish on a metal road. When you reach the Y junction (as in the photo) via right then continue for a further 8kms.
It is a narrow winding gravel road, so please take care, keep your speed down and keep to your left.
