single and multi-day fishing adventures

 ALTITUDE FLY FISHING

Characterised by the beautiful but extremely rugged Ruahine Range, the northern Manawatu region has a myriad of fine trout waters on offer to explore. From large lowland rivers with high numbers of both rainbow and brown trout to more remote and beautiful small spring-fed or backcountry style streams there is plenty to choose from. These unique places have been local fishing guide Johnny Gummer's home waters for nearly 20 years.
For those who have a good fitness and fishing skill level, who want to experience the best our Lower North Island rivers have to offer, our backcountry fishing provides gin-clear water, much larger fish and more sight-fishing opportunities. New Zealand's mountainous terrain is rugged and very wild but encompasses stunningly clear water and forest surroundings - the ultimate prescription for large trout.

Experience the magic of sleeping within the New Zealand wilderness
  • in comfortable tents
  • or backcountry huts alongside the river valley - little havens for the backcountry fly fisher after an invigorating day in somewhat physically demanding wilderness trout country.
